2022 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine regular drivers sweep all in UAE

2022 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine regular drivers have swept all in the Certified by FIA Asian series opener at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Newcomer 16-year-old Colombian Sebastian Montoya, made a sensational debut in the feeder series. The son of former Formula 1 racer and multiple Indy 500 winner Juan Pablo, secured a lights-to-flag victory for Mumbai Falcons in race one. Montoya, who has confirmed a full 2022 campaign in the European Championship for Prema Racing, claimed his first single-seater win.

Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto led the 3Y by R-ace GP one-two in the second race, finishing ahead of team mate Lorenzo Fluxa. The 17-year-old has recently joined forces with team R-Ace GP for his second season in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

Gabriele Minì, runner-up in the 2021 European rookies classification, took his first Formula Regional victory for Hitech GP. The 2020 Italian F4 Champion set the quickest time in qualifying to dominate the final race that was red flagged after an accident at the start. The 16-year-old Sicily’s racer will enter in 2022 the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine with ART Grand Prix for a second season.

The Asian series now heads to Dubai, for the second out of five rounds scheduled this coming weekend.
