The inaugural day of the 2023 FIA Formula 3 season in Sakhir, Bahrain is over. The first taste of the new season had 3 former Formula Regional European Championship drivers as the fastest, with the Italian driver Gabriele Minì gaining the first pole position of the year. Minì this year moved up in FIA F.3 as vice-Champion of the single-seater junior series co-organized by Alpine and ACI Sport. Second best result on the track went to Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto, FRECA sixth overall in 2022 with 176 total points and 2 races win (Spa-Francorchamps race 2 and Barcelona Catalunya race 2). Third in Bahrain’s qualifying session was then Gregoire Saucy, who, in turn, won the very first edition of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine back in 2021.
All three drivers graduated in FIA F.3 after showing astonishing performances Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine and all of them are race winners, and brilliantly followed a professional gowth path, as underlined by today’s result. This remarkable output once again pleads for the central role of Alpine and ACI Sport’s series on the road to F1, as also testified by the fact that almost half the grid is made by drivers that militated in the series (13 out of 30).
