It was the perfect start to the weekend for Ugo Ugochukwu at Monza, as the American driver topped the afternoon session with the fastest time of the day, clocking in at 1’47″446. Ugochukwu, in excellent form, has shown his comfort at the Temple of Speed, having already been the fastest in yesterday’s four-hour test.
Also performing well was Roman Bilinski, who, driving for Trident Motorsport, posted the second-fastest time, less than two-tenths off the papaya-colored McLaren Driver Development car of Ugochukwu. Reigning champion Rafael Camara secured the third-best time, followed by the third Prema Racing car of James Wharton, who has his sights set on securing the runner-up spot in the championship this weekend. A result that would crown a perfect season for the Italian squad, who mathematically secured the team title in Spain.
The fifth and sixth-fastest times were posted by Trident’s Ruiqi Liu and Nicola Lacorte, with the latter finishing ahead of Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix). Italian driver Valerio Rinicella also impressed during the session, setting the fastest time among the MP Motorsport drivers and finishing eighth, ahead of Alessandro Giusti (ART Grand Prix) and Théophile Naël (Saintéloc Racing), who completed the top ten.
All eyes are now on tomorrow’s first qualifying session, scheduled for 8:30 AM, which, as usual, will be streamed live on the championship’s official YouTube channel.
