The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine made its debut at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli today, kicking off the second official Pre-Season Collective Test of 2025. It marked the first time the series visited the Adriatic venue, adding a new chapter to FRECA’s fifth season.
The morning session was affected by light rain in its initial stages, which left the track damp and required drivers to adapt early on, before sunny conditions gradually dried the surface and allowed for a steady drop in lap times across the field.
Topping the timesheets by the end of the four-hour session was Pedro Clerot (VAR), who posted the fastest time of 1:29.683, narrowly ahead of Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix) by just 0.188s. Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) continued his consistent early-season form to finish third with a time of 1:30.036.
Nikita Bedrin (Saintéloc Racing) and Hiyu Yamakoshi (VAR) rounded out the top five, while Matteo De Palo (Trident), Jack Beeton and Rashid Al Dhaheri (both Prema Racing) also showed strong pace to place within the top eight. Dion Gowda (VAR) and Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix) completed the top ten.
Just outside the top ten, Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi (Trident) continued his consistent form by clocking the 11th best time of the morning. He was followed closely by Enzo Peugeot (RPM) and Kanato Le (ART Grand Prix), both showing solid pace as conditions improved. Ruiqi Liu (Trident) also delivered a steady performance, edging out Zachary David (CL Motorsport) who closed out the top fifteen with a time of 1:30.879. With just over a second separating the leading group, the session once again confirmed the incredibly competitive nature of the FRECA grid.
The action resumes this afternoon with the second session of the day scheduled from 14:00 to 18:00.
