The sun continued to shine over Circuit Paul Ricard as the second day of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine pre-season collective testing got underway. With ideal track conditions, drivers wasted no time in chasing the limits, and it was Pedro Clerot (VAR) who topped the timesheets with an impressive 1:57.359, confirming the strong pace he’s shown throughout the week.
Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing) came within 0.029s of the top, closely followed by Matteo De Palo (Trident), both showing excellent consistency and focus. Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) continued his positive momentum in fourth, while Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix) rounded out the top five, just over a tenth off the fastest lap.
A tightly packed top ten also featured Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix), Hiyu Yamakoshi (VAR), Jack Beeton (Prema Racing), Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP), and Dion Gowda (VAR), all within 0.35 seconds of the leader-evidence of just how closely matched the field is ahead of the season opener.
Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP), Doriane Pin (Prema Racing), Enzo Peugeot (RPM), Kanato Le (ART Grand Prix), and Nikita Bedrin (Sainteloc Racing) completed the top fifteen, each continuing to refine their setups and build valuable mileage on the French circuit.
Drivers and teams will be back on track for the final session this afternoon, running from 13:00 to 16:55.
