Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine heads to Spa-Francorchamps for Round 2

The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is set to light up one of the most iconic tracks on the international calendar as the series heads to Spa-Francorchamps for the second round of the 2025 season. Nestled in the heart of the Ardennes Forest, the legendary 7.004-kilometre Belgian circuit promises another action-packed weekend of wheel-to-wheel racing.

After the season opener at Misano, the championship standings remain tight, with several drivers showing strong early form. Leading the pack is Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), who backed up his runner-up finish in Race 1 with a commanding victory in Race 2, earning the Frenchman the provisional lead in the standings with 43 points.

Hot on his heels is Matteo De Palo (Trident Motorsport), who delivered a sensational performance in front of his home crowd, taking his maiden victory in Race 1 and finishing third in Race 2 to secure second in the overall rankings.

Brazilian Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing) demonstrated impressive consistency, finishing fourth and fifth across the two races to sit third in the championship, while Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) showed strong pace with pole position and a second-place finish, recovering well after an early retirement in Race 1.

Also among the frontrunners is Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing), who secured a podium in Race 1 and showed strong pace in Race 2 before slipping down the order due to contact while battling for a top-five position. Nikita Bedrin (Saintéloc Racing) impressed with a strong comeback in Race 2, moving from tenth on the grid to a solid sixth at the finish line. Jack Beeton (Prema Racing) showed consistency with a pair of top-10 finishes that keep him in the hunt, followed by Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP), who capped off his weekend with a determined run to fourth in Race 2. Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix) delivered steady performances, while his compatriot Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing) also picked up points to stay within the top ten of the championship.

The level of competition among the rookies has also proven high, with Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Edouard Borgna (G4 Racing) each securing a Rookie class win in Race 1 and Race 2 respectively, showcasing the promising talent already emerging in their debut season.

Weekend Schedule

Track action officially begins on Thursday, May 15, with three pre-event collective test sessions, offering drivers and teams valuable running time on the iconic Belgian circuit. The first session will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:50 AM, followed by the second from 2:10 PM to 3:15 PM, and the third from 4:05 PM to 5:10 PM.

Friday, May 16, will host the two collective tests for the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. The first will begin at 9:49 AM and run for 50 minutes, with the second session scheduled for 2:29 PM, also lasting 50 minutes.

Saturday’s schedule opens with the first qualifying session divided into two groups: Group A at 10:20 AM and Group B at 10:40 AM. Race 1 is set to start in the afternoon, with lights out at 2:20 PM for 30 minutes plus one lap of action.

Sunday, May 18, features the second qualifying session beginning with Group B at 9:30 AM, followed by Group A at 9:50 AM. The weekend concludes with Race 2 at 4:15 PM.
