Freddie Slater flies at Spa

The action is heating up at Spa-Francorchamps, where, following Thursday’s pre-event testing, the second round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine officially got underway. The morning opened with a 50-minute collective test session, which saw Freddie Slater emerge on top. The British driver for Prema Racing set the pace with a fastest lap of 2:11.031 around the iconic 7.004 km Belgian circuit.

Third was his teammate, Japan’s Jin Nakamura, who ended the session 0.184 behind the leader. Once again, a strong performance from Italy’s Matteo De Palo saw the Trident driver claim fourth place with a gap of 0.218.

In fifth, current championship leader Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix) closed the session 0.275 off the leader’s pace, closely followed by Nikita Bedrin of Saintéloc Racing, sixth with a margin of 0.279. Seventh was Akshay Bohra (R-ace GP) at 0.322, with Trident’s Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi eighth, 0.385 behind. Enzo Peugeot (RPM) secured ninth place at 0.487, while Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing) rounded out the top 10, 0.552 off the leading time.
