The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine Returns to Action at the Hungaroring Circuit

About one month after the thrilling round at Zandvoort, the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is ready to fire up the engines once again on the 4.381 km layout of the Hungaroring, the fourth event of the 2025 calendar. This Hungarian round has by now become a fixture in the series tradition, and this year again will serve as the stage for the prestigious Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix.

The series, promoted and organized by ACI Sport and Alpine Racing, heads into this round ready to deliver spectacle and excitement for the championship’s supporters, who have already witnessed no fewer than five different race winners over the opening six races. A scenario of remarkable balance among teams and drivers in the overall standings, which currently see Freddie Slater leading with 83 points. The Prema Racing driver, courtesy of his victories at Spa-Francorchamps and in the opening race at Zandvoort, holds a slender one-point advantage over Matteo De Palo (Trident). The latter, now in his second season in the series, has enjoyed an excellent start to the campaign, securing his maiden triumph at Misano and collecting two further podium finishes that keep him firmly in contention at the sharp end of the championship.

Sitting third on 75 points is R-ace GP’s Enzo Deligny, who prevailed in Race 2 at Spa and has consistently scored points throughout this first part of the season. Fourth overall is fellow countryman Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), who grabbed the spotlight with victory in Race 2 at Misano but is currently aiming to bounce back after a series of misfortunes that have hampered the recent outings of the reigning Middle East series champion.

Equal attention will be on Pedro Clerot, who arrives off the back of his breakthrough win on home turf for Van Amersfoort Racing in the Netherlands, where the Brazilian talent also clinched two pole positions. Sixth in the standings is his teammate Hiyu Yamakoshi, who showcased his speed by claiming the runner-up spot in Race 2 at Zandvoort, underlining his strong competitiveness. Seventh is another Japanese driver, Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix), who stepped onto the third step of the podium in Belgium. The top 10 is completed by Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing), Akshay Bohra (R-ace GP), and Jack Beeton (Prema Racing).

In eleventh place sits Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP), a Toyota Academy driver, who currently leads rookie Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing) in the classification. Worth noting is the entry of two new drivers for G4 Racing, which alongside Edouard Borgna will field two debutants: Edu Robinson and Enzo Richer. Among the other novelties, Ean Eyckmans will join the grid with RPM, while Javier Sagrera will race with Akcel GP, and making a return to the championship will be Zachary David, this season competing with CL Motorsport.

The race weekend will kick off on Thursday with two Pre-Event Collective Test sessions, each lasting 90 minutes. On Friday, the field will tackle the Collective Tests scheduled for 9:32 and 16:02, both running for 50 minutes. Saturday will see Qualifying 1 at 9:00 followed by Race 1 at 13:30. On Sunday, the second qualifying session will take place at 8:30 to set the grid for Race 2, scheduled for 15:40, to be contested over 30 minutes plus one lap. In keeping with championship tradition, qualifying and races will be streamed live on the official YouTube channel and broadcast on TV networks covering the international series, including ACI Sport TV.
