After an exciting and eventful weekend in Imola, the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is set to resume in the scenic setting of Spielberg, Austria. The Red Bull Ring will host the seventh double-header of the year, marking a crucial moment in the battle for the title as the season enters its final phase.
At the top of the Drivers’ Standings is Freddie Slater (Prema Racing), who despite being disqualified from Race 2 in Imola due to a technical non-conformity, remains the championship leader with 186 points. The British driver has been a model of consistency, collecting podiums throughout the season and proving to be a strong contender at every circuit.
Just 16 points behind is Matteo De Palo (Trident Motorsport). The Italian has also shown great pace and composure, keeping the pressure on Slater while fending off challenges from the rest of the field. Currently third is Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP) with 140 points. The French driver had a strong showing in Imola, taking a win and a second-place finish, reinforcing his position as a title challenger.
Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing) remains in the mix with 128 points. The Brazilian has been consistently fighting within the top five and is looking to bounce back in Austria. Akshay Bohra (R-ace GP) also made a strong statement at Imola, taking his first FRECA pole and win in Race 2, moving up to fifth in the standings with 108 points.
Behind them, Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), Hiyu Yamakoshi (VAR), Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing), and Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix) continue to battle within the top ten, separated by just a few points and each showing flashes of brilliance during the season.
Nikita Bedrin (Saintéloc Racing), who claimed a podium in Imola, currently sits in tenth place with 42 points, followed by Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP) and Kanato Le (ART Grand Prix), who have both delivered strong performances in select races.
Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing) currently leads the rookie standings and shares 22 points with Jack Beeton (Prema Racing), continuing to establish himself as one of the most promising young drivers this season. Just behind them with 18 points is Michael Belov, who remains a consistent scorer for CL Motorsport. The team will field three cars at the Red Bull Ring, welcoming two new drivers to the lineup: Zhenrui Chi and Enea Frey.
Driver market movements continue, with Saqer Al Maosherji set to switch to G4 Racing starting from Austria, following the announcement that AKCEL GP will not take part in the remaining rounds of the season. Meanwhile, Prema Racing will welcome Alex Powell, who is set to make his debut in the championship promoted by ACI Sport and Alpine Racing.
The weekend programme at the Red Bull Ring will kick off on Thursday with the Pre-Event Collective Test from 15:00 to 18:00. On Friday, the action continues with two Collective Tests at 09:05 and 13:25.
Saturday will see Qualifying 1 begin at 09:00, followed by Race 1 at 12:55. On Sunday, Qualifying 2 is scheduled for 09:35, with Race 2 to start at 15:05. As per tradition, both qualifying sessions and races will be streamed live on the official YouTube channel of the Championship.
