Enzo Deligny secures fourth pole of the season at Hockenheim

Enzo Deligny claimed his fourth pole position of the 2025 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine season (after Hungaroring, Imola, and Barcelona), in today’s Qualifying session at Hockenheim. On a dry but cold track, with asphalt temperatures around 15 degrees, the R-ace GP driver set the pace in Group A, which was the first to head out on track. Matteo De Palo emerged as the fastest in Group B, earning a place on the front row for what will be a crucial race in the fight for the championship title.

The opening session quickly turned into a duel between Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix) and Deligny, with the Frenchman ultimately stamping his authority by posting a time that nobody could match (1:33.989). Freddie Slater (Prema Racing), currently level on points with De Palo at the top of the standings, ended the session in third. That result means the championship leader will start from the third row on Sunday and face a demanding challenge to protect his position. Solid performances also came from Akshay Bohra (R-ace GP) and Kanato Le (ART Grand Prix), who both remained close to the front throughout the run.

The second session saw a head-to-head between De Palo and Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), with the Trident Motorsport driver ultimately prevailing to secure first in the group and a spot on the front row. Giltaire followed in second, while Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi (Trident Motorsport) confirmed his strong form with third, continuing the momentum from his top-five finish at Barcelona. Among the rookies, Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing) set the benchmark once again in fourth, finishing just ahead of his teammate Hiyu Yamakoshi in fifth.

Tomorrow’s schedule begins at 10:10 with the second qualifying session, which will determine the starting grid for Race 1. Today’s qualifying session set the order for Sunday’s race. Race 1 will take place tomorrow at 16:30, broadcast live on the Championship’s official YouTube channel, on the TV networks that regularly cover the series, and on ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 228).

Enzo Deligny | R-ace GP – Pole Position
“It feels great to take another pole position straight after Barcelona. We’ve been quick and consistent all year, and today I really enjoyed driving here at Hockenheim. The lap came together perfectly, and the margin shows the progress we’ve made. Of course, starting from pole is the best place to be, but tomorrow’s race can be a very different story, so we’ll stay focused and keep working to convert it into a strong result.”

Matteo De Palo | Trident Motorsport – Group B P1
“We’re happy with pole position in Group B, although our goal was the overall pole after the pace we showed in testing. Congratulations to Enzo for his lap, today it wasn’t possible to beat him. We’ll work tonight to improve and try to fight for the overall pole tomorrow. Starting from the front row puts us in a strong position, and at a track like Hockenheim, where overtaking is possible, we’re confident we can go for the win and take important points for the championship.”
