After a promising debut in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship (FRMEC), which saw Costa Toparis achieve a podium and multiple points finishes, the 16-year-old Australian will continue his single-seater journey in mainland Europe.

Toparis’ 2024 FRECA campaign sees Evans GP and Finnish FRECA team KIC Motorsport join forces.

With FRECA being one of the top three junior series in the FIA Global Pathway, alongside FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3, Evans GP’s involvement in the championship marks a significant expansion in the team’s racing portfolio.

The synergy between Evans GP and KIC Motorsport isn’t new. Former KIC Motorsport driver Patrik Pasma drove for Evans GP during the 2021 and 2022 Formula Regional Asian Championships, where he achieved multiple race wins.

Following this, Evans GP director Josh Evans engineered Pasma for KIC Motorsport during the 2021 FRECA season, where they achieved multiple strong results, including a string of top-five finishes.

Toparis will receive technical assistance from Evans GP personnel throughout his 2024 FRECA campaign, with further details on this exciting partnership to follow.

Josh Evans, Director of Evans GP: “After his promising performances in the Middle East, we’re looking forward to supporting Costa in his first FRECA season. It’s clear that he has the potential, the attitude, and the mindset to succeed. Our partnership with KIC Motorsport allows us to continue to bring our Australian spirit and competitive edge to Europe”.

Costa Toparis, KIC Evans GP: “I’m excited to be competing in the FRECA championship this year with KIC Motorsport and Evans GP. I enjoyed a very positive experience with Evans GP for FRMEC this year, and I believe we can continue to build on our results and capitalise on our pace. FRECA has a highly competitive line-up, and I am looking forward to taking on this challenge. I feel privileged to be part of a close and energised team of people for 2024″.
