Evan Giltaire sets the pace in second day’s opening session of Barcelona Pre-Season Test

The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine resumed Pre-Season collective testing this morning at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where drivers returned to the track for the opening session of Day 2. With sunny and dry conditions once again, lap times continued to improve across the field as teams focused on refining their setups for the 2025 season.

Topping the timesheets was Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), who posted the fastest lap of the morning with a time of 1:35.424, confirming his strong form after yesterday’s competitive performance. Just 0.182 seconds behind, Pedro Clerot (VAR) secured the second-best time, closely followed by Freddie Slater (Prema Racing), who continues to show consistency at the top.

Also just two tenths off the top three positions were Hiyu Yamakoshi (VAR) and Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP), who completed the top five, while Matteo De Palo and Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi kept Trident firmly in the top ten. ART Grand Prix also placed Taito Kato in eighth position, ahead of Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing) and Nikita Bedrin (Saintéloc Racing), rounding out a tightly packed top ten with less than half a second covering the group.

Several other names also posted competitive times, including Ruiqi Liu (Trident), Jack Beeton (Prema Racing), Dion Gowda (VAR) and Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP) as the field continues to show great depth and parity in this year’s lineup.

Engines will fire up again this afternoon for the final session of the Barcelona pre-season collective test, scheduled from 14:00 to 18:00.
