Hiyu Yamakoshi sets the pace in second Pre-Event Collective Test at Hungaroring

The second Pre-Event Collective Test of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at the Hungaroring saw another demonstration of the series’ competitive depth, with lap times tumbling early before temperatures soared in the afternoon.

Japanese racer Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing) emerged as the fastest of the session, posting a best lap of 1:40.039, confirming the strong form he has shown throughout the test. Just 0.236 seconds behind, Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing) secured the second-fastest time, narrowly edging out Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), who completed the top three.

Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP) was a mere 0.012s behind Giltaire in fourth place, while Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing) continued his consistent run in fifth. Matteo De Palo (Trident) set the sixth-fastest time, underlining his pace ahead of the weekend’s competitive sessions.

Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing) again topped the Rookie category in seventh overall, while Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) and Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP) ended eighth and ninth respectively. The top ten was completed by newcomer Ean Eyckmans (RPM), who continues to adapt well to the Hungarian circuit.

Notably, Kanato Le (ART Grand Prix), Michael Belov (CL Motorsport), Akshay Bohra (R-ace GP), Jack Beeton (Prema Racing), Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix) and Maya Weug (Saintéloc Racing) all recorded times within 1.1 seconds of the leader, highlighting the close competition that characterises the international series promoted and organized by ACI Sport and Alpine Racing.

After two productive pre-event sessions, teams and drivers will reconvene tomorrow morning for the first Collective Test of the event, scheduled to begin at 9:32 AM local time.
