James Wharton excels in morning session of Barcelona’s second test

The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine resumed action in Barcelona today, hosting the second day of Preseason Collective Tests. Optimal weather conditions once again welcomed the drivers of the international series, who have further improved on the times set yesterday. The fastest lap of the first timed session was clocked by James Wharton (Prema Racing), who stopped the clock at an impressive 1:35.614, showcasing his special affinity with the Spanish track where he claimed a victory in last year’s Euro 4 Championship. Hot on the heels of the Australian driver was Brando Badoer (Van Amersfoort Racing), who proved to be particularly comfortable on this circuit, securing the third-best overall time yesterday. Close behind the Italian driver, Noah Strømsted representing team RPM, clinched the third fastest time, preceding Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP) and Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing), the latter of whom had led everyone in the first test day yesterday.

The Prema Racing duo, Wharton and Ugo Ugochukwu, performed well again, finishing third and fourth, respectively, ahead of Badoer. A notable mention also goes to Valerio Rinicella (MP Motorsport), who finished the session sixth, ahead of the Frenchman Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix) and Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP). Rounding out the top 10 were Costa Toparis (KIC Motorsport) and Nikhil Bhora (MP Motorsport).

The final sessions of the afternoon will take place from 14:00 to 14:55 and from 16:04 to 16:59.
