Prema Racing‘s Andrea Kimi Antonelli will lead the grid for Race 2 of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at Monza, having set the fastest times in both groups during the second qualifying session.
The Italian driver showcased his prowess in the second session, posting the best time of 1m47.483s, allowing him to secure his fourth pole position of the season. Behind Antonelli, Tim Tramnitz (R-ace GP) closed the session in second place ahead Roman Bilinski (Trident Motorsport), who posted his best time towards the end of the qualifying.
In Group B, Santiago Ramos emerged as the fastest with a time of 1m48.420s. The Mexican driver achieved this result thanks to the intervention of the RPM team, which managed to resolve a technical issue during the session that had forced him to return to the pits. Ramos will start from the front row alongside Antonelli, who, following yesterday’s race classification change, holds a lead of just 18 points over Martinius Stenshorne (R-ace GP), who finished sixth within Group B.
Two more noteworthy contenders were Rafael Camara (Prema Racing), eager to redeem himself after yesterday’s technical issue hindered his chances of contending for the race lead. Today, he delivered a strong qualifying performance, securing the second row alongside Tramnitz. The RPM team’s rookie, Noah Strømsted, also performed admirably, and he will kick off from the sixth grid position, sharing the third row with Bilinski.
Joshua Duerksen (Arden Motorsport) also had a positive qualifying session, securing the fourth position in his group and managing to outpace Laurens Van Hoepen (ART Grand Prix). Additionally, Lorenzo Fluxa (Prema Racing) will commence from the fourth row, with Hadrien David (Monolite Racing) positioned in the fifth one.
Race 2 is scheduled at 2.15pm (30’+ 1lap), with live streaming on official YouTube of the series (links at formularegionaleubyalpine.com).
