Rafael Camara (Prema Racing) continued his commanding performance at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, setting the fastest lap of the day in the second Collective Test session. The Brazilian driver clocked an impressive time of 1’36″938, reaffirming his status as the driver to beat this weekend in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.
Brando Badoer (Van Amersfoort Racing) once again followed closely behind, narrowing the gap to less than a tenth of a second, as the Italian put in a strong display that suggests he may pose a serious challenge in the races ahead. A standout performance came from Matteo De Palo, who was the fastest of the Saintéloc Racing drivers, securing the third-best time of the session. De Palo finished within two-tenths of the series leader, further cementing his presence at the top of the time sheets.
James Wharton (Prema Racing) and Alessandro Giusti (ART Grand Prix) also delivered solid performances, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Their consistency throughout the weekend is likely to keep them in contention during the competitive sessions to follow.
The Saintéloc Racing team showed strength across the board, with Théophile Naël and Enzo Peugeot taking sixth and seventh positions, respectively. Tuukka Taponen (R-ace GP), currently fighting to keep his championship hopes alive, could only manage eighth in this session.
Prema Racing’s Ugo Ugochukwu put in a strong lap to place ninth, adding a third Prema car to the top 10. Rounding out the top ten was Nicola Lacorte (Trident), who redeemed himself after technical issues in the morning session that prevented him from completing any competitive laps.
The next key moment of the weekend will be the first qualifying session, scheduled for tomorrow at 10:20, which will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the championship.
