After the astonishing performance by Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport) at Red Bull Ring, where he had found top speed after a difficult start of the season, it seems the Argentinian driver might continue his road to success, with the best lap time in today’s pre-event collective tests (1:28.429). Behind him Michael Belov (1:28.712), who is constantly bringing G4 Racing in the first positions, an excellent Mari Boya (Van Amersfoort Racing – 1:28.926), and the championship leader, Grègoire Saucy (ART Grand Prix – 1:28.966), who might be looking at Colapinto with some attention, despite the enormous gap in the general standings between the two (151 points).
Good fifth is Gianluca Petecof (1:28.969), who has had his debut with KIC Motorsport at Red Bull Ring, with no luck due also to some technical problems with the car. Sixth is Gabriele Minì (ART Grand Prix – 1:29.034), coming from a difficult weekend in Austria. Seventh is William Alatalo (Arden Motorsport – 1:29.088), who obtains a good 1:29.088, while eighth is Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam – 1:29.099), who seemed to be together with the team back to the performance expected. We will see here in Valencia if this can be confirmed. Ninth is his teammate David Vidales (1:29.126), while tenth is the Rookie and Red Bull Junior Team driver Isack Hadjar (R-ace GP – 1:29.154).
2021 FRECA – Rd 08 – Valencia – CTPE – Results
Evidently, these first pre-event collective tests cannot give conclusive indications of the performance of the drivers, and we will see better what the final grid might look like with tomorrow’s two 50 minutes collective tests, starting respectively at 9:00 and at 12:30.
