(FA Racing Press Release)
Young French talent Victor Bernier has signed with FA Racing to compete in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. It will be the quick 17-year-old’s debut season in the series.
After signing off from his 2021 German F4 duties, Bernier took in several post-season FRECA tests, setting very competitive times in the two-day tests at Paul Ricard and Mugello. This proved that the young Frenchman from Saint-André-des-Eaux is more than ready for his promotion from F4 to FRECA level.
“I’m excited to join FA Racing for my first season in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine”, said Bernier. “To be able to do that for Fernando Alonso’s team is extra special for me, as he’s always been an example to me. Testing in November went well, and I look forward to working with the team and produce a good start of the season.”
“It’s amazing that Victor will be part of our FRECA line-up this year”, said FA Racing’s Paul Antony. “He’s been brilliant in karts, and went on to translate that form to single-seaters extremely well. Now he’s stepping up to FRECA, and we’re sure he will perform right from the off. We’re really eager to get going with Victor!”
A prodigious karting talent, Bernier took the 2017 French championship by storm before being crowned the 2018 CIK-FIA Karting World Champion at OK Junior level. That same season Bernier also grabbed fourth in the CIK-FIA European OK Junior Championship. In 2019, Bernier made his single-seater debut with fourth in the French Formula 4 Championship before switching to German F4 in 2020 and 2021 while also taking in selected Italian F4 rounds. His two German campaigns handed him fifth and fourth in the overall standings.
