There’s already a tangible race atmosphere at the Red Bull Ring, the venue of the seventh round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. Today marked the first opportunity to get acquainted with the track during an extensive session of collective testing. On a dry track with a track temperature of 40.3°C, it was Victor Bernier, the French driver from MP Motorsport, who secured the best result of the day among the 32 drivers on the track today. Bernier lap time today was 1’26.913.
The second-best lap on the Red Bull Ring track was set by Tim Tramnitz, the German driver from R-ace GP, who was 0.142 seconds behind the Frenchman. Following closely in third place was Sami Meguetounif, also representing MP Motorsport, highlighting the excellent performance of the Team under the leadership of Sander Dorsman with a gap of 0.171 seconds. Fourth in today’s rankings was Rafael Camara, the Brazilian driver from PREMA Racing, with a gap of 0.211 seconds, closely followed by the Norwegian from R-ace GP, Martinius Stenshorne, trailing the leader by 0.244 seconds. The Championship leader, Andrea Kimi Antonelli of PREMA Racing, took the sixth spot, trailing by 0.282 seconds. Seventh place for Michael Belov, G4 Racing driver, with 0.312 followed by Bruno Del Pino. The Spanish driver debuting in the series with MP Motorsport showed a great speed already at his first occasion and closed the session eight with a gap of 0.345. Ninth was Macéo Capietto, RPM French driver, at 0.353; followed by Kas Haverkort, Dutchman of Van Amersfoort Racing, who rounded the top 10 with 0.362 seconds gap from Bernier.
The weekend’s schedule:
The weekend’s program starts with the first contact with the track on Thursday, September 7, with a long session of pre-event collective tests from 13:35 to 16:27. On Friday, September 8, there will be the first collective test session from 10:20 to 11:10, followed by a second session from 15:17 to 16:07. Saturday, September 9, marks the first race day, with qualifying sessions starting at 10:50 and running until 11:25, followed by Race 1, starting at 17:05 for 30 minutes + 1 lap. On Sunday, September 10, the second qualifying session will begin at 9:10 and run until 9:45, and then the lights will go out for the last race of the weekend at 15:15, again running for 30 minutes + 1 lap.
