FRECA completes first day of Misano test with Bhirombhakdi on top

The opening day of the second Pre-Season Collective Test for the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine concluded with a highly competitive afternoon session at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. With improving weather conditions throughout the day, drivers had the chance to maximise dry running and fine-tune their setups on a circuit that hosted series for the very first time today.

It was Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi (Trident) who stole the spotlight in the final stages, clocking the fastest lap of the day with a time of 1:29.053, making him the overall leader from Thursday’s action.

Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP) came closest to the Thai driver, ending the session just 0.108s behind, while Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) confirmed his strong pace with the third-best lap of 1:29.169. Less than two tenths covered the top four, with Matteo De Palo (Trident) continuing his momentum from previous tests in fourth.

Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), who had been fastest across both sessions at the Barcelona test, slotted into fifth, narrowly ahead of Dion Gowda and Hiyu Yamakoshi (both Van Amersfoort Racing), who set identical lap times of 1:29.265. Jack Beeton and Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing) followed, while Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix) rounded out the top ten.

Action resumes tomorrow, Friday, April 18, with the second and final day of testing at Misano. Engines will roar back to life starting from 9:00 AM.
