ART Grand Prix’s Gabriele Mini kept his cool at Imola to land his second pole in a thrilling qualifying session for the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.
On a dry track Minì used every ounce of his experience and guile to time his run to perfection, signing the best time of 1:39.294s ahead of championship leader Dino Beganovic (Prema Racing), who will start from the second row this afternoon.
Trident’s rookie Tim Tramnitz will start from the first row for the final race of the weekend courtesy of his fastest lap time in Group B. Michael Belov (MP Motorsport) will complete the second row at the side of Beganovic. Behind them Gabriel Bortoleto (R-ace GP) and Kas Haverkort (Van Amersfoort Racing) will complete the third row.
R-ace GP’s Hadrien David ended up fourth fastest in Group A, 0.042s behind his teammate Bortoleto. French driver will share the fourth row with Joshua Durksen (Arden Motorsport). The top 5 of both sessions was reached by the Italians Leonardo Fornaroli (Trident) and Pietro Delli Guanti (RPM).
The red flag exposed during the last session with Paul Aron (Prema Racing) driving off the track at Tamburello, did not allow the Estonian to improve his sixth position.
Race 2 (03.20pm) will be live streamed on official YouTube and Facebook of the series (links at formularegionaleubyalpine.com).
