In QP2, valid for the grid of Race 1, starting this afternoon at 17.25 (CET – local time), Prema Powerteam obtains the best two lap times with David Vidales and Paul Aron, separated only by 0.044 seconds (1’37.860 vs 1’37.904). In third position Alex Quinn (Arden Motorsport), with 1:37.912, just 0.008 from second, while very close is also Hadrien David (R-ace GP), fourth, with 1’37.958. The first four drivers who will start in the first two rows in Race 1 are so within only 0.098 seconds. What a close competition this will be!
A little further behind, the poleman of QP1, Grégoire Saucy (ART Grand Prix) with 1’38.163, followed by the third driver of Prema Powerteam, Dino Beganovic, who obtains a good 6th position and is first among the Rookies.
With a few drops of rain that finally did not impact the conditions of the track, lap times improved by almost 3 tenths of a second in the second qualifying session.
David Vidales: “A great result, all went well, with a good position I managed to have on track that has permitted me to avoiding traffic, and thanks to the final tuning of the setup since yesterday, I have obtained a very good lap time”
Paul Aron: “My best lap was absolutely good and I think it is just David who really made a fantastic job to be just slightly faster”.
Alex Quinn: ” I am really pleased with the result, considering we are all very close at the front. It took me a little more time than other drivers to warm up the tires well, but I am happy to have achieved this very good performance at the very end of the session. It is going to be tricky in Race 1, with so many drivers and the Pirelli tires that some of us have not raced with yet.”
