Imola, QP1: Grégoire Saucy with ART Grand Prix take pole

It is Grégoire Saucy (ART Grand Prix) to conquer the first pole position of the Season at the F1 Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola, obtaining the best lap time in QP1 (1’38.139), valid for the grid of Race 2, starting tomorrow. Second Hadrien David (R-ace GP – 1’38.328), and third Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam – 1’38.347). The first of the Rookies is Dino Beganovic (Prema Powerteam), 7th with 1’38.768. (Results are provisional).

QP1 was stopped with red flag a few minutes to the end due to an off-track at Piratella by Jasin Ferati (Monolite Racing), so drivers managed to have only one fast lap at the restart, and with just 2’25 to the end of the session some of them entering the track in the rear part of the group could not actually pass the start line before the end of the session, and could not have a final opportunity to improve their best lap time.

Grégoire Saucy: “I am really happy for the result. I managed to enter on track and avoid as much as possible traffic, and also warm up the tires in the best way, and this has been key to obtain pole position. I hope I will manage to do the same in QP2”.

Hadrien David: “I am really happy with the result. The team has worked great on the car after FP2, and this result is extremely positive. A fantastic lap time also considering the fact this was achieved in the only lap at the restart after red flag”.

Paul Aron: “I am happy, even though there was the potential to obtain pole position. Tires were at their peak when the session was stopped with red flag, and maybe I missed to make the most of the potential at that moment”.
