Monza, free practices: David leads a very compact group

Hadrien David (R-ace GP) sets the best lap time of the day with the two Free Practice sessions held on the “Temple of Speed” in Monza. The French driver obtains an excellent 1’46.292 in FP2 on a dry track getting warmer compared to FP1 (19°C of the asphalt compared to 12° C). Behind David, an amazing Dino Beganovic, the Rookie of Prema Powerteam and Ferrari Driver Academy, setting a fantastic best lap time of 1’46.362. Third is the Title winner Grégoire Saucy (ART Grand Prix – 1’46.362), and fourth is his teammate and another great Rookie, Gabriele Minì (1’46.404).

“I am really satisfied as the car balance is really good here and much better than in Mugello. The team has done a great job to obtain this. I am for this reason confident with the car and driving is great fun. I have not been looking for the toe, but had it finally for my best lap. Tomorrow again I will just try to drive the best I can without really looking for the toe, as the qualifying session is short with a lot of cars and we will have only around five laps to obtain a good time”, has commented David at the end of FP2.

“We have really improved the car since a few rounds thanks to the team. Prema has worked so hard to obtain this and now I can really feel that the problems of the start of the season have been solved and I can express myself completely”, comments a smiling Beganovic.

“I am positive as the car setup is really good and the potential is even better since my driving has not been perfect in this FP2”, admits the 2021 Champion Saucy.

Once more the group is very compact with similar performance where a few thousands of a second can make the difference and a potential grid in FP2 with the first 20 drivers in less than a second.

Dexter Patterson (Monilite Racing), after a good performance in the pre-event collective tests yesterday, unfortunately had to leave the track and not participate in the racing weekend due to family problems.
