Taponen fastest again in the penultimate timed session at Paul Ricard

The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine was back in full swing at the Paul Ricard track, where the second official test of the season is accompanied by sunny skies and brisk winds.

In this morning’s three-hour session, the drivers continued to improve on yesterday’s times, with Tuukka Taponen emerging at the forefront as the session drew to a close. The R-ace GP driver picked up right where he left off yesterday, clocking the best time again at 1’56”669, putting him ahead of Brando Badoer (Van Amersfoort Racing) by more than a tenth of a second.

The third best time was claimed by Zachary David, who once again demonstrated a solid connection with the French circuit behind the wheel of another R-ace GP car.

Rafael Camara (Prema Racing) and Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix) also performed well, closing the timed session within the top 5. Positive signals were also seen from Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP), Théophile Naël (Sainteloc Racing), and James Wharton (Prema Racing), who secured the sixth to eighth positions, respectively. Rounding out the top ten were Alessandro Giusti (ART Grand Prix) and Ugo Ugochukwu (Prema Racing).

The session was briefly interrupted by a single red flag in the early stages due to Ivan Domingues’s car (Van Amersfoort Racing) coming to a halt on the track.

The final timed session is set to commence this afternoon at 13:00 and will run until 16:00.
