On the first day of the second round, as per usual, collective testing were held, providing Teams and drivers with one last opportunity to fine-tune their cars. MP Motorsport performed exceptionally well, with Frenchman Sami Meguetounif setting the fastest lap time overall in the second session with a time of 1:36.361. Andrea Kimi Antonelli from PREMA Racing secured the second position, trailing by a margin of +0.218. Antonelli, hailing from Bologna, is seeking a strong comeback after a mixed weekend at his home circuit during the first round, where he couldn’t participate in Sunday’s activities due to car issues. Tim Tramnitz, the German driver from R-ace GP, claimed the third-best lap time today, closely trailing by +0.238 behind Meguetounif (only two hundredths of a second behind Antonelli in P2).
Taking the fourth spot on the first day was Macéo Capietto, a French driver from RPM, with a gap of +0.270. He was followed by Joshua Dufek from Van Amersfoort Racing, had his best lap at +0.299. This means that the top 5 positions were occupied by representatives from five different teams, showcasing the high level of competition in the series. This is an exciting preview of what we can expect tomorrow, as we witness two qualifying sessions and the first race of the weekend.
The current Championship leader, Martinius Stenshorne from R-ace GP, finished the first day in sixth place, with a gap of +0.401 from Meguetounif. Norwegian rookie Stenshorne was followed by Victor Bernier from MP Motorsport, with the gap starting to widen at +0.537. Michael Belov (+0.539) from G4 Racing, Roman Bilinski (+0.541) from Trident, and Kas Haverkort (+0.560) from Van Amersfoort Racing rounded off the top 10.
