This morning marked the first of the two 50-minute sessions scheduled for the fifth round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. At Mugello Circuit, the track conditions were dry with a track temperature of 35°C and humidity at 52%. It was the Norwegian driver from R-ace GP, Martinius Stenshorne, who dictated the pace this morning. Stenshorne secured the top position in collective test 1 with a lap time of 1’43.697. Just 23 hundredths of a second behind him was Dutch driver Kas Haverkort from Van Amersfoort Racing. Taking third place was his teammate in the Team led by Frits Van Amersfoort, Joshua Dufek, with a gap of 0.209. Tim Tramnitz, the lightning-fast German driver from R-ace GP, finished fourth in the session with a gap of 0.251 from Stenshorne. Fifth place went to French driver Macéo Capietto from RPM, trailing by 0.276, followed by his teammate Santiago Ramos, who recorded a gap of 0.327. The margins were incredibly tight in this first session today, with Serbian driver Michael Belov from G4 Racing also performing strongly on the track, with seventh place finish and a gap of 0.342. Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli from Prema Racing took the eighth position, setting his best lap time at 0.406. Laurens Van Hoepen, Dutch driver representing ART Grand Prix, followed in ninth place with a gap of 0.547. Rounding out the top 10 was Trident driver Owen Tangavelou, who completed his best lap on the Tuscan track, trailing the leader by 0.575 seconds.

The weekend’s schedule:

The second 50-minute collective test session will take place today, Friday, July 7, at 14:10. Saturday, July 8, will feature the first qualifying session, with Group A on the track from 8:30 to 8:45, followed by Group B from 8:50 to 9:05. Race 1 will then take place at 13:50 (30′ + 1 lap). On Sunday, July 9, there will be another qualifying session, with Group B on the track from 8:30 to 8:45 and Group A from 8:50 to 9:05. The final race of the weekend will start on Sunday at 16:20 (30′ + 1 lap).
